A roofer from Chesham, not a call centre
MP Roofing is Mark Passingham - and a small team working out of Chesham. When you ring the number on this site, you get the person who will be on your roof, not a sales office and not a lead-generation company selling your details on to three other firms.
Mark has been on the tools for 32 years. In that time the materials have changed a fair bit - dry ridge instead of mortar, fibreglass and rubber instead of pour-and-roll felt - but the things that go wrong on a Chiltern roof haven’t changed at all.
We work within about ten miles of Chesham, and that’s deliberate rather than a limitation. It means we can get to you quickly when something is leaking, it means we’re not adding two hours of travel to every day, and it means we know the housing round here - the Victorian terraces in Berkhamsted with their shared valleys, the 1930s stock in Chesham Bois with a century-old lead on it, the New Town flat roofs in Hemel. That knowledge saves time, and time is most of what you’re paying for.
Most of our work comes from people who used us before, or from their neighbours. That only happens if you turn up when you said you would and charge what you quoted, so that’s the whole business model.
What we take on
Pitched roofs in slate and tile, leadwork, flat roofs in GRP, EPDM and torch-on felt, guttering, fascias and soffits, cladding, and moss removal. Repairs as readily as full re-roofs - a slipped tile is a job worth doing properly and we’d rather do it than turn it down.
What we don’t
We don’t pressure wash roofs. It strips the surface off concrete tiles and forces water under the laps, and we’d rather lose the job than take years off your roof in an afternoon - there’s more on that on our moss removal page.
We don’t cap over rotten fascia boards and call it a replacement. We don’t cold-call, we don’t knock on doors after a storm, and we won’t tell you that you need a new roof when you need three tiles. If we think the work isn’t worth doing, we’ll say so.
We don’t do thatch. That’s a separate trade and you want a proper thatcher, not a roofer having a go. Beyond that there isn’t much we won’t look at within ten miles of Chesham - pitched or flat, repair or full re-roof, house or garage.
